Peter Shalulile moves on

Peter Shalulile and his Namibia teammates have made history by qualifying for the knockout phase of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) for the first time.

The team secured their spot after holding Mali to a 0-0 draw in their last group game on Wednesday.

Namibia finished their Group E campaign with four points, qualifying as one of the four best third-placed finishers.

Mali won the group with five points, while South Africa finished second with four points, above Namibia due to their 4-0 victory over them on Sunday.

The other Group E game on Wednesday saw Tunisia being eliminated after a goalless draw with South Africa.

Mali, as the group winners, will now face Burkina Faso in the last-16 meeting in Korhogo next Tuesday.

On the other hand, Namibia will play their neighbours, Angola, on Saturday.

This achievement is a significant milestone for Namibian football.

It showcases the progress and development of the sport in the country.

The qualification to the knockout phase of Afcon will not only boost the morale of the players but also inspire young footballers in Namibia.
