Previously, the Hawks had arrested Nontobeko Mathunjwa (35) and Precious Abudu (34), who were denied bail by the George Magistrates’ Court. Their case was postponed to June 10, 2024, for further investigation.

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in George had been actively searching for the third suspect, reported to be residing in Cape Town.

On May 23, 2024, the Department of Home Affairs in Strand informed the Hawks that they had arrested a foreign national who was in the country illegally. Upon receiving the information, the Hawks confirmed that the individual was the suspect they were seeking.

Egabor appeared at the George Magistrates’ Court on May 24, 2024, and her case was postponed to June 10, 2024, to be joined with her co-accused.

Major General Makgato, the Provincial Head of the Hawks, praised the effective cooperation between the two departments and emphasized the importance of information sharing, which facilitated this arrest and eased their investigation efforts.
