Zuluboy sues Umkhokha after losing lead role to Nkanyiso Mchunu
Renowned South African rapper and actor Zuluboy, known formally as Mxolisi Majozi, has filed a lawsuit against Rhythm World Productions, the production company behind the popular TV series Umkhokha: The Curse.
Zuluboy alleges that he was unfairly removed from the lead role, which was ultimately given to actor Nkanyiso Mchunu.
An inside source revealed to Zimoja that Zuluboy had dedicated a week to preparing for the role, residing on set and familiarizing himself with the production.
However, at the eleventh hour, the decision was made to replace him with Mchunu.
“He was sent to work on the production for a week, he lived on set but did not work…But then, at the last minute, the decision was made to give the part to Nkanyiso Mchunu instead,” the source explained.
Despite attempts by Rhythm World Productions to offer Zuluboy an alternative role, the actor felt deeply disrespected by the situation and decided to pursue legal action.
According to the source, “The company tried to counter offer but he took the legal direction as he was not happy with the offer.”
The dispute is now headed for arbitration, as stipulated by the Freelance Performer’s agreement.
