5-year-old Ditebogo Phalane laid to rest
Somber and emotional gathering in Soshanguve today as the community comes together to bid a heart breaking farewell to 5-year-old Ditebogo Phalane. The young boy’s life was brutally cut short in a hijacking and murder that has left the nation in shock and mourning.
The boy was shot last Friday night when he and his father came under attack from a group of men outside their home in Block UU. Phalane Jr died later in the hospital.
The little Phalane had rushed outside to meet and greet his father, who had just arrived home, when the attack took place.
The suspects are expected to appear in court today, facing charges of hijacking and murder.
During the funeral high-profile figures have joined the bereaved family to pay their respects. Among those present were the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele, and the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Fannie Masemola.
