Zimbabwean man sentenced for rape of 3 minor girls
A 35-year-old Zimbabwean man has been handed three life sentences for the rape of three minor girls.
The sentence was handed by the Modimolle Regional Court on 10 April 2024.
According to reports, on 31 May 2022, the accused Tinos Chimedze, who is Zimbabwean male, raped the three victims aged between the ages of 10 and 11 years. After the incident he allegedly sent the victims to a local victim empowerment facility to request for food, at Modimolle extension 13 Jasper informal settlement.
The founder of victim empowerment facility who was present at the time became suspicious when the accused left the victims.
She interviewed them and they informed her about the rape ordeal.
The Police were immediately notified, and visited the crime scene and the cases of rape were opened.
The accused Tinos Chimedze was convicted and sentenced to three life imprisonment for 3 counts of rape. The sentences will run concurrently.
