Lerato Moloi and Tol Ass Mo scandal

The comedian Tol Ass Mo’s criticism of the model Lerato Moloi on the YouTube show Podcast and Chill with MacG has caused her to trend for three days in a row.

Numerous social media users have since cyberbullied the model in the comedian’s support.

This is what Lerato Moloi did

Lerato Moloi, a South African model, wrote a tweet at the height of the “Me Too” movement describing her personal experiences of being raped by well-known and influential South African males.

The comedian Mongezi “Tol A$$ Mo” Ngcobondwane, one of the three men she listed in her tweet, filed a lawsuit against her over the claims, and she was first given a court order for her to delete the message.

Police had to arrest her for contempt of court when she refused to abide by the court’s ruling, saying she would not be silenced.

The tweet had to be taken down in accordance with the court ruling 24 hours after the order was issued.

At the time of writing, the offending tweet was still pinned to the top of Moloi’s Twitter profile.

Moloi was arrested, according to Vereeniging police, who also verified in 2020 that she appeared at the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, July 1.

Despite earlier reports claiming that the tweet was made in 2014, it was actually sent on June 11, 2020, and as of the writing of this article, it still hadn’t been deleted.

On 12 June, Moloi tweeted “Lawyer’s letter no. 1 has arrived! I am not afraid!”.

She tweeted on 19 June: “Moments ago, I’ve just signed for & received the lawyer’s letters of demand, interim protection order; etc, from the man that raped me in 2014. I am still not afraid! I will not go silent!”.

Her last original tweet was sent on the day she appeared in court and she simply declared; “I won’t go silent!”.

Moloi’s tweets were met with tweets of support from other women, with some even offering to donate funds to help her with the legal bills.

Tall Ass Mo gets acquitted of rape

According to reports based entirely on a statement released by the comedian’s attorneys at the conclusion of their legal dispute, Tol Ass Mo was “acquitted” of rape charges in August 2022.
