Police save thief from mob justice
On Friday, 5 April 2024 at approximately 15:00, officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bromberg Precinct intervened to rescue a 32-year-old African male thief, suspected of housebreaking from a group of angry community members in the Putfontein area.
The officers responded to a report from a concerned citizen regarding a suspected thief on Geldenhys Road. Upon arrival, they found the suspect in possession of alleged stolen items, along with a homeowner who confirmed ownership of the recovered items.
During questioning, the suspect confessed to the offense, claiming he had been misled by someone about the presence of money at the location.
The suspect was immediately arrested, handcuffed, and taken to the Putfontein police station for lawful detention.
