Khune torches storm by comparing himself to Messi and Ronaldo

Suspended Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is grateful for the support he has received from the public after being voted into the Carling All-Stars team.

Despite a turbulent season that saw him suspended by Kaizer Chiefs and stripped of his captaincy, Khune’s fans still showed their support by voting for him to play in the Carling Cup match.

Khune expressed his gratitude and determination to continue performing at a high level.

“I’m doing great, I think everyone has seen that I’ve been keeping fit and I’ve been training very hard. As a 24-hour pro, you can relax at any given time. You will never know where your destiny is. When they opened the votes for fans to start voting and I saw my name there, I told myself that whatever I’m going through it’s a blessing in disguise.”

Despite nearing the end of his career, Khune remains motivated to achieve more success.

He torched a storm by comparing himself to football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, stating, “I always refer my story to that of Lionel Messi, having won seven Ballon d’Ors and he’s still hungry for more. Cristiano Ronaldo has five Ballon d’Ors and he’s still hungry for more. You can never have enough as a footballer.”

Khune believes that age is not a barrier to success and that his experience can still help him achieve more accolades.

He mentioned Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who was still performing at a high level until the age of 45.

Khune emphasized the importance of behavior and setting goals as a footballer

Despite the challenges he has faced, he remains focused on achieving more success and proving his hunger on the field.
