WATCH: Durban student, 22, stabbed while live on Facebook
A shocking and disturbing incident was captured live on Facebook last week when a 22-year-old student from the Durban University of Technology (DUT) was assaulted and stabbed at their residence on the main Steve Biko campus in Durban. The alleged attacker is reported to be a fellow student.
The victim, who was live-streaming a study session from her room, encountered the assault during her broadcast.
In the video, the victim can be heard shouting at her attacker while attempting to lock the door.
Chaos ensued as the victim struggled to fend off her attacker, all while being audibly distressed and crying out for help.
Other students nearby were alerted to the commotion and attempted to understand the situation upon hearing the victim’s screams and noting the presence of blood.
Following the incident, the victim took to Facebook once again to provide an update.
She shared that she had received medical attention for her injuries and requested prayers and support from her online community.
“I ask myself how I managed to fight her off while she was on top of me. I am putting everything in the hands of the police, and I hope that justice will be served,” she says.
