Female tavern owner burns her niece after accusing her stealing stock
A Mdantsane tavern owner has been arrested in connection with a horrifying incident.
The 50-year-old woman stands accused of assaulting her own niece with boiling water, allegedly in retaliation for an accusation of theft.
The victim, a 25-year-old woman, suffered severe burns on her upper body in the brutal attack.
Confirming the arrest, police spokesperson Hazel Mqala stated that the tavern owner is facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The incident has left the victim’s family reeling, with the grandmother expressing her shock and anguish over the brutal assault on her grandchild.
In a statement to the media, the victim’s grandmother recounted the harrowing details of the assault.
She described how she was alerted by concerned individuals who informed her of the attack on her grandchild.
Upon arriving at the scene, she found her granddaughter with her hands bound with wire, a grim testament to the cruelty inflicted upon her.
The grandmother shared the heartbreaking pain and suffering her grandchild is enduring, emphasizing the severity of the burns and the trauma inflicted upon her.
“My grandchild is in deep pain,” she lamented, highlighting the devastating impact of the vicious attack.
