Woman hired hitman to smoke out two relatives

A woman has been sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment for each of the murders of her two relatives.

In 2019, Martha Motladile paid a hitman, Molefi Molise, R29,000 to kill Lesang Sarah Motladile and her son Bongani Goodwill Motladile.

The high court in Bloemfontein also sentenced Molise to life imprisonment for the murders, as well as for the murder of Ernest Mokhele in January of that year.

The murders of Lesang and Bongani Motladile took place in March 2019 when unknown individuals armed with automatic rifles shot and killed them at their home in Ramakgari location near Thaba Nchu.

Molise was later arrested in Fouriesburg, and during the arrest, the police seized an R1 automatic rifle that was linked to the murders.

This rifle also connected Molise to the murder of Ernest Mokhele in Botshabelo, as he had demanded the keys to Mokhele’s vehicle.

Interestingly, the son of Ernest Mokhele was initially arrested as a suspect for orchestrating his father’s murder

However, he was acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence.

This suggests that the investigation into these crimes was complex and required careful examination of the facts.

Further police investigations revealed that Keletsang Motladile, another relative of Lesang and Bongani Motladile, had hired Molise to carry out the murders.

The motive behind these killings was discovered to be the life insurance policies worth R347,000 that Keletsang had on her two relatives.

The sentencing of Martha Motladile and Molefi Molise sends a strong message that South Africa takes murder cases seriously and will not tolerate such heinous crimes.

The severity of the sentences reflects the gravity of the offenses committed.

It also highlights the importance of thorough police investigations and the role of evidence in securing convictions.
