Abusive girlfriend buys 2 knives and stabs boyfriend to death

Faith Mikateko Mabuye, who also sometimes use the surname Mnisi, appeared before the Mkhuhlu Magistrates’ Court on May 23, 2024. Mabuye faces charges of murder for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Sydney Bruce Xilavi, to death at the beginning of March this year.

The incident occurred at the Kwinyamahembe settlement (Lillydale) under the Bushbuckridge Municipality in Mpumalanga.

According to reports, the deceased boyfriend, tired of being abused by Mabuye, was attempting to end their relationship when she allegedly stabbed him with a knife.

Surprisingly Xilavi’s mother was among the first to arrive at the scene and she stopped Mabuye from being attacked by the angry community.

It was also revealed that Mabuye had previously poured boiling water over the victim, severely injuring him. A case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm was opened against Mabuye at the time, but she convinced him to withdraw the charges.

Despite these warning signs, Xilavi did not anticipate further violence from his girlfriend, who allegedly killed him a few months later.

“She went to the shop and bought a set of two knives, one of which she used to stab him in the neck,” a family member said.

Following her arrest, Mabuye spent over a week in jail before being granted bail of R1000 and released. Many people in the community have accused Mabuye of being possessed by demonic spirits.
