19-year-old shot and killed by truck driver over Darling hair pieces

The police were alerted to a shooting at a Truck Stop in Ventersburg on January 20, 2024, around 15:30. Upon their arrival, they discovered the body of an African male on the N1 Highway with a gunshot wound to the back of his neck.

Witnesses reported that three boys allegedly stole from a truck, prompting the truck driver to confront them. Three shots were fired, resulting in the death of one of the alleged thieves at the scene.

Truck driver kills for hair pieces

The other two fled with stolen Darling hair pieces, leaving various items on the ground. A bag filled with hair pieces was found next to the deceased and seized by the authorities.

The truck driver, however, left the scene without reporting the incident. A murder case has been registered for further investigation, with the deceased identified as Mokhethi Hlakoana (19) from Mmamahabane, Ventersburg.The next of kin was called to the scene for identification.
