Toxic waiting period finally comes to an end for Samas winners
The South African Music Awards (Samas) recently delivered the long-awaited accolades to this year’s winners, a month after the prestigious event took place.
Among the grateful recipients of the samas was K.O, who expressed his gratitude in an acceptance speech on social media.
K.O, overwhelmed with emotions, thanked everyone who contributed to his success, including fellow artists Young Stunna and Blxckie.
He also expressed his appreciation to Capasso and Samro for presenting him with two trophies.
In his speech, K.O emphasized the significance of his achievements, stating, “Legacy, history, records broken, it’s crazy [that] your boy is still out here doing big things.”
The delay in delivering the awards was not unusual, according to Samas spokesperson and former journalist Lesley Mofokeng.

Mofokeng clarified that it is part of the awards process to engrave the trophies after the ceremony and then send them out to the winners.
This practice has been followed for years.
One of the awards received by K.O was the Samro Highest Airplay Composer Award, which recognizes the composer with the highest airplay on radio.
This accolade highlights K.O’s talent and ability to create music that resonates with listeners across the country.
Additionally, K.O was honored with the CAPASSO for Most Streamed Song Award.
CAPASSO, the Composers, Authors, and Publishers Association, acknowledges the song that has garnered the most streams.
This award reflects K.O’s success in capturing the attention and support of music enthusiasts through digital platforms.
The South African Music Awards celebrate and recognize the exceptional talent within the country’s music industry.
The delayed delivery of the awards does not diminish the significance of the achievements nor the hard work put in by the winners.
The trophies serve as a symbol of their dedication and contribution to the music scene in South Africa.
