Father hands himself over after stabbing his 18-year-old son to death

A father turned himself in at South African Police Service (SAPS) Kamesh after his son died from a stab wound on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Police responded to a murder complaint at the Provincial hospital around 11:52. Upon arrival, they were informed that the 18-year-old victim had been admitted with a stab wound to his back earlier that morning.

The father handed himself to the police and was subsequently arrested on murder charges.

According to a close source, the father was tired of being tortured by his own child for over two years.

The source further states that the suspect said ” I love my child but the drugs took over his life he hits me I couldn’t handle it anymore I didn’t want to stab him to death I wanted to Just get him off me he sat on top of me and hit me in the face.”

The circumstances surrounding Bryton Engelbreght’s death are still being investigated by the pokice. The 50-year-old suspect is set to appear in magistrate court on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

In another incident, Klerksdorp Police arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of his 25-year-old girlfriend on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Allegedly, a fight broke out between the couple and their friends at a residence in Brakspruit outside Klerksdorp. The victim purportedly assaulted her boyfriend, who retaliated by beating her with his fists until she collapsed.

Emergency services were called, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was arrested and charged with murder, scheduled to appear in Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, commended the swift police response leading to the suspect’s arrest. He emphasized the importance of resolving disputes peacefully within the community to prevent such tragic outcomes.
