Spurned male netball coach shoots and kills female player

A female netball player, Khanyile Ntetho, was shot and killed allegedly by her coach in East London in the Eastern Cape.

The heartbreaking event took place on 13 April, following a celebratory gathering with her friend and coach after a successful netball game.

The circumstances surrounding Khanyile’s death are both harrowing and deeply troubling.

The family’s concern grew when she failed to return home the next day, with her phone switched off.

Their efforts to locate her led them to the coach’s residence, where they were unable to find any trace of her.

It was not until 15 April that the devastating news emerged – Khanyile had been fatally shot by her coach and two companions, reportedly after rejecting their advances.

The gravity of the situation was confirmed by Eastern Cape police spokesman Captain Hazel Mqala, who provided details of the incident to ZiMoja.

The alleged actions of the coach and his associates have sparked outrage and disbelief within the community, as the brutal nature of Khanyile’s death continues to reverberate.

In response to the tragic event, authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects involved in Khanyile’s senseless killing.
