President Ramaphosa to continue filling potholes desipite criticism

This weekend, President Cyril Ramaphosa will continue his Letsema campaign in Limpopo despite criticism over “patching potholes on a gravel road.”

Ramaphosa will be in Tzaneen to repair potholes. He will be with local ANC officials and members.

The Letsema campaign in Limpopo will continue to be led by President Cyril Ramaphosa this coming Saturday.

The Letsema campaign, which was introduced on 23 April in Mangaung, Free State, aims to put ANC structures at the forefront of efforts to address issues with service delivery and social inclusion.

After “embarrassing” pictures of a road repair project in Delmas, Mpumalanga was posted online last week, the campaign drew criticism.

Fikile Mbalula, the minister of transport and head of the ANC’s elections, posted images of Ramaphosa reviewing a road repair.

The EFF criticism of President Cyril Ramaphosa

Floyd Shivambu, the deputy leader of the EFF, weighed in and called it “embarrassing.”

The minister asked, “Which road is being fixed here? This is desperate grandstanding at what level? We were aware of the awful situation, but not to this embarrassing extent. Please remove this tweet and the pictures that were posted about the fictitious repair of the roads. Please,” he said.

Ramaphosa travelled to the province, according to EFF leader Julius Malema, to “fix a non-existent pothole.”

Where is the EFF in Mpumalanga that Ramaphosa visited to fill in a hole that didn’t exist? Considering that the EFF ought to have intervened and declared, “You cannot fill any pothole here.” No potholes exist in this area. There are no roads here.

“You let the man roam and treat our people any way he pleases while claiming to be on the ground. Wherever the ANC and Ramaphosa exploit our people, they must be confronted head-on, stated Malema.

Mmusi Maimane, a leader of the SA Movement, also attacked the ruling party.

“ANC, do you not feel ashamed? It’s quite embarrassing.

He is undoubtedly pondering the thought, “I should have put my US dollars in a pothole. Pothole ribbon-cutting is currently taking place. This is what happens when funds intended for road maintenance are stolen. Among 257 municipalities, only 41 had clean audits. Our taxes are being transferred to the ANC in any way required.
