Police seize laptops as pastor is arrested for alleged rape

A pastor aged 31 from Chatsworth has been arrested on charges of rape after allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

The arrest was made on Thursday following the disturbing allegations, prompting swift action from law enforcement to investigate the case.

The Chatsworth FCS Unit is currently handling the investigation into the pastor’s alleged actions.

KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala confirmed the suspect’s arrest and stated that he was scheduled to appear before the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on March 8.

The news of the pastor’s arrest has sent shockwaves through the community, with KZN Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza expressing deep concern over the allegations.

Khoza highlighted the troubling nature of the accusations, emphasizing the breach of trust that occurs when individuals in positions of authority and influence are accused of such heinous crimes.

During the arrest, law enforcement officials seized laptops, cellphones, and sex aids from the pastor’s premises.

Khoza emphasized the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with authorities to safeguard vulnerable individuals, particularly minors, from harm and exploitation.

Khoza urged anyone with relevant information or who may have experienced similar incidents of abuse to come forward and assist in ongoing investigations.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding individuals from all forms of abuse and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
