Pieces of a pedestrian found scattered on the road following hit-and-run

Tragedy struck on the M41 near Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, last Sunday afternoon when the dismembered and decapitated remains of a pedestrian were discovered. The gruesome incident has shocked the local community and highlights the dangers of reckless driving.

Passing motorists noticed human body parts scattered across the road and immediately alerted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre. Reaction Officers were swiftly dispatched to the scene, where they discovered the pedestrian’s torso, legs, and arms. Despite an extensive search, the victim’s head was not located at the scene.

Authorities believe the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and dragged for several meters, resulting in the catastrophic injuries. The driver involved in the accident fled the scene, failing to stop or report the incident, which is now being investigated as a hit-and-run.

RUSA has urged anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle involved to come forward to assist in the investigation. The tragic loss of life in such a horrific manner serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities of all road users to ensure the safety of others.
