Paul Mashatile’s office hit with another scandal
Paul Mashatile has found himself embroiled in controversy following allegations of sexual harassment within his office.
A senior female employee bravely came forward last August to report abuse by a senior official in the deputy president’s office, sparking a wave of scrutiny and calls for accountability.
In response to the explosive claims, Mashatile has vehemently denied accusations of protecting the accused official from facing consequences.
In a statement issued by his office, Mashatile clarified that he and his chief of staff, Mduduzi Mbada, were not shielding the senior official implicated in the disturbing allegations.
According to the statement, a letter of intention to suspend the accused, identified as “Mr X,” has been issued and hand-delivered to the spokesperson.
The deputy president has been briefed on the ongoing investigation initiated by the Presidency to address the allegations of misconduct.
Emphasizing the importance of due process, Mashatile stressed that all necessary steps must be taken to address the serious issue at hand.
Furthermore, Mashatile unequivocally condemned gender-based violence, particularly when directed towards women, and underscored the need to protect all employees from any form of victimization.
His office assured that the matter was receiving the attention it deserved and pledged to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
The unfolding scandal has cast a shadow over Mashatile’s leadership, raising questions about accountability and transparency within his office.
