Parents find missing girl at a mortuary after reporting her missing
Missing 11-year-old girl, Monneashia Prins, has been found dead.
Last seen on Friday afternoon, her lifeless body was discovered in the bushes near her home in the Ithemba Farms informal settlement in Eerste River just a day later.
She was taken to a mortuary where she remained unclaimed.
The devastating news came to light when her family, under the impression that she was visiting her grandmother in Forest Village, realized she was missing.
A family member, who chose to remain anonymous, shared insights into Monneashia’s usual routine of sleeping over at friends’ houses or her grandmother’s, always returning home early the next morning.
Concern grew when she failed to come back, prompting the family to file a missing person’s report with the police.
Their worst fears were confirmed when they learned of a body found near their residence.
In a heartbreaking visit to the morgue, Monneashia’s family faced the grim reality of identifying her lifeless body.
With unanswered questions surrounding the circumstances of her death, they await the results of the pending post-mortem examination.
Neighbour Linda Adams fondly remembers Monneashia as a delightful child, adding to the outpouring of grief and disbelief in the tight-knit community.
