Namibia Gifted An Outstanding R300 000 Bonus for AFCON Win

In a remarkable turn of events, the Namibian national football team, known as the Brave Warriors, has been given with a R300,000 bonus for their first victory at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The bonus, a testament to their surprising 1-0 win against Tunisia, has not only fueled the team’s morale but also attracted generous pledges from the President of the Namibia Football Association (NFA), Robert Shimooshili, and PST Bet Founder and CEO, Steve Hamunyela.

Namibia’s AFCON win

While South Africa faced a setback in their opening match with a 2-0 defeat to Mali, The Brave Warriors emerged as one of the tournament’s surprises, clinching their first-ever Afcon victory against Africa’s third-highest-ranked team, Tunisia.

The historic win marks The Brave Warriors fourth appearance in the tournament, and the bonus serves as a fitting acknowledgment of their impressive performance.

Generous Pledges from Shimooshili and Hamunyela: Robert Shimooshili, President of the Namibia Football Association, and Steve Hamunyela, CEO of PST Bet, have both promised a substantial N$150,000 (R150,000) each towards the Brave Warriors.

Shimooshili, expressing his gratitude and admiration for the team’s dedication, stated, “The Namibian nation is grateful for the history made… You have brought honour and pride to the nation.”

Shimooshili not only praised the financial support but also issued a challenge to fellow Namibians and businesses, urging them to contribute in any way possible.

“I challenge the Namibian nation to, those who can, support the team in whatever way they can,” he added.

Steve Hamunyela echoed Shimooshili’s sentiments, conveying profound appreciation for the team’s triumphant performance.

“This donation is PST Bet’s way of thanking the Brave Warriors. Our special way of saying we love you,” Hamunyela remarked.

The Brave Warriors historic bonus and the generous pledges come at a crucial time as they prepare to face South Africa on January 21, 2024, in Korhogo.

Then followed by a match against Mali on January 24, 2024, in San Pedro.
