Calls grow for the Motaung’s to be booted from Kaizer Chiefs management
UDM leader Bantu Holomisa has expressed concerns about the current state of Kaizer Chiefs FC and proposed a restructuring of the club’s management to address its challenges.
In a recent interview with Sunday World Engage, Holomisa, a devoted supporter of the team and a close friend of chairman Kaizer Motaung, emphasized the urgency of saving the club from potential collapse.
Holomisa underscored the importance of preserving the Kaizer Chiefs brand, which boasts the largest fan base in the country, by suggesting the removal of the Motaung family from the club’s operational management.
He recommended outsourcing the management role while retaining the Motaung family as shareholders at the board of directors’ level to ensure a more professional and effective leadership structure.
“All of us supporters [are suffering from the poor performance] and I’m sure even the leadership of the team must be feeling the same. I am not sure, but I think that brand is too big.
“We might have to seriously consider, as fans of Kaizer Chiefs, to formalise how do we advise the leadership of the club,” Holomisa said.
The UDM leader highlighted the current strategic management roles held by Kaizer Motaung’s children within the club, expressing his belief that the family’s involvement has contributed to the team’s recent challenges.
Holomisa emphasized the need for a more professional approach to management to address the ongoing trophy drought and frustrations experienced by the club’s supporters.
Holomisa’s proposal for reforming the club’s management structure is aimed at revitalizing Kaizer Chiefs and restoring its competitive edge.
Drawing parallels with successful European clubs, he emphasized the importance of appointing a full-time manager to oversee the team’s operations and strategic direction, with a focus on enhancing performance and achieving success.
Acknowledging Kaizer Chiefs’ significant impact on the national economy and the importance of safeguarding the club’s legacy.
