Mnike was named song of the year by Rihanna in a recent interview with media powerhouse Complex Music.
During the FENTY x PUMA sneaker launch in Hollywood on Monday night.
The Work hitmaker took a moment to chat with Complex, who handed her copies of her 2013 Full Exposure cover story.

During the interview Rihanna was asked what her favourite album of the year was.
After careful consideration she shouts out two songs.
The first being Unavailable by Davido and Musa Keys as well as Mnike, a single perfomed by Tyler ICU & Tumelo.za featuring DJ Maphorisa, Nandipha808, Ceeka RSA and Tyron Dee
Rihanna’s answers show her love of the Amapiano genre which has taken the world by storm over the last 3 – 5 years.
The Impact of Mnike Across the Globe
Mnike was released on 28 April 2023 under Sony Music Entertainment Africa (with exclusive licence from New Money Gang Records).
It peaked at the number one spot on Billboard South Africa Songs and hit one million streams two weeks after its release
At the time of writing the song currently has 33.7 million view on Youtube with 209k likes
Mnike has cemented it’s place as Amapiano’s most viral song of 2023
The song has also been remixed by the legendary DJ Shimza
The song also had a viral dance challenge on Tik Tok with notable people such as Kandi Burruss of the multi-platinum R&B female vocal group Xscape participating in it as well.
