Malawian national arrested with R375 000 worth of drugs
The Kanoneiland police are cracking down on drug dealers, making it harder for them to operate in the area. Recently, the Kanoneiland South African Police Service (SAPS) took action against an Malawian alleged drug dealer, seizing approximately R375,000 worth of dagga.
On March 7, 2024, around 13:10, members of the Kanoneiland Visible Policing and Detectives, led by Warrant Officer Frederick Engels, acted on a tip-off and raided a suspected drug house in the Geelkop area of Kanoneiland. During the search, they discovered 15 bags of dagga with an estimated street value of R375,000.
A 30-year-old man from Malawi was arrested and charged with illegal dealing in dagga. He will soon appear in the Keimoes Magistrates’ Court.
Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, the Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, praised the swift and professional action of the Kanoneiland SAPS members in apprehending the alleged dagga dealer.
She emphasised the commitment to intensify efforts to curb criminal activities and expressed gratitude to the community for providing valuable information to combat crime in their neighborhoods.
