Makoti gone bad: Woman teams up with her brothers girlfriend to kill her own mother

Molepolole Police are investigating a disturbing case where a 79-year-old woman narrowly escaped an alleged murder attempt by her own daughter and son’s girlfriend.

The incident occurred on April 28th at the victim’s Phuthadikobo ward residence, where she lived with the two accused women.

According to reports, the elderly woman retired to bed early that Sunday night and entrusted her son’s 40-year-old girlfriend with the house keys.

However, it is alleged that the girlfriend later returned, unlocked the bedroom, and attempted to suffocate the victim with a pillow.

Fortunately, the victim’s cries for help alerted neighbours, who rushed to the scene, causing the alleged assailant to flee through a window.

The girlfriend was arrested the following day and, during questioning, reportedly claimed she was acting under the instructions of the victim’s 53-year-old daughter.

Molepolole Station Commander, Superintendent Jacob Molapong, confirmed that two female suspects were detained but released without charge after 48 hours due to ongoing investigations.

“Upon completion of our investigations, that’s when we can decide for the matter to be taken before court,” he explained, adding that the motive behind the alleged plot remains unclear.

The victim sustained neck bruises during the struggle and received hospital treatment. While discharged, she continues to suffer from pain.

If sufficient evidence is gathered, the suspects could face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, which carries a potential 14-year prison sentence.
