The 36-year-old Prophet was arrested the same day and spent a night behind bars before appearing in the Thohoyandou magistrate’s court on Friday April 12, 2024.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to make his next court appearance on Thursday April 18, 2024 for a formal bail application.

There have been many reported cases of Prophets raping girls in recent months especially in Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

According to reports another Prophet from Hluvukani in Mpumalanga allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl after convincing her that for her to be healed she had to engage in sexual activites with him.

A similar incident happened in Mkhuhlu, in this case a Prophet allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl after claiming that she had demons.

He convinced her that the demons would only leave her body after she has sex with him.

In the latest case of Limpopo, the Provincial Police Commissioner Lt.Gen. Thembi Hadebe, welcomed the arrest.

“Prophets are supposed to help people spiritually, not harm them; the perpetrator’s heinous act has to be dealt with harshly,” concluded Lt.Gen Hadebe.
