The 34-year-old forward unexpectedly left Amakhosi after the 2023-24 season and joined Yadah FC in Zimbabwe.

While Chiefs wanted to extend his contract, Billiat went missing for weeks before deciding to leave.

He has now shared the reasons for his surprising exit from Chiefs.

“Negotiations can go in different directions. I felt it was time for me to return home. They wanted me to stay, but I didn’t feel mentally strong enough for another season,” Billiat said on the MhlengiSports YouTube Channel.

“I was dealing with injuries and pressure, which was frustrating because I wanted to play and contribute a lot. I would have liked to stay, but the negotiations didn’t go well.

“I was okay with a salary cut; I appreciated that. I would have stayed, but the pressure became too much for me. I wasn’t sure if I would stay injury-free for another season, and the pressure from social media was hard to handle,” he explained.

“I’m just one person, and I couldn’t manage it all. There were times when I wasn’t myself even at home because I had so much to cope with. So, I apologise for how things went during the negotiations and salary cut discussions; it was just too much for me.”
