Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs, 24, sadly killed during hijacking
According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs passed away on Wednesday evening after reportedly being shot and killed during a failed car hijacking in Florida.
A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed this information to Sunday World.
“Yes, it is true, Luke was gunned down in a hijacking. Sad, very said,” said the informant.
Said SA Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo: “The police are waiting for information on the incident for now,” Masondo said.
“We will comment further on the matter as soon as we gather the details thereof…”
The ex-SuperSport United defender joined Kaizer Chiefs in October last year, shortly after Molefi Ntseki stepped down as head coach.
Fleurs had racked up 70 appearances for the Matsatsantsa, scoring twice, after joining the club from Ubuntu FC in July 2018.
Following several weeks of training with the team, the 24-year-old defender signed a two-year contract with the option to extend at its conclusion.
