H@rny SAPS instructor instructs female trainee to bend and then he did the unthinkable

A heartbreaking incident has rocked the law enforcement community as a police training instructor has been arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) on a charge of rape.

The IOL reports that the alleged crime took place at the Phillipi Police Training Academy in the Western Cape, where the instructor reportedly assaulted a female police trainee.

According to Ipid spokesperson, Sontaga Seisa Shuping, the disturbing incident unfolded on March 31, 2024, when the instructor summoned the female trainee to his office.

Despite her previous reluctance to visit his office, she complied with his request this time. Once inside, it is alleged that the instructor locked the door and proceeded to rape her.

Shockingly, the victim was allowed to leave after the assault, but chose not to report the incident immediately.

The brave police trainee eventually came forward and reported the rape a few days later. Subsequently, the case was referred to Ipid for a thorough investigation.

The accused training instructor was swiftly apprehended on April 21 and appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on April 22. The case was adjourned to May 2 for a formal bail application.

This distressing incident comes on the heels of another harrowing case in the Western Cape, where police captain Andre Bekkies was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl.
