Recounting the circumstances that prompted her to take a break from acting, Dominic revealed that she experienced a dark phase in her life marked by rifts with close friends.

Feeling isolated and overwhelmed, she made the bold choice to leave the movie industry and relocate to London in search of solace and a fresh perspective.

“In 2001/2002, I stopped acting. I left the movie industry and moved to London because it was a very dark period in my life. I fell out with some friends I considered family, and I just gave up acting for a while. I needed to get out of that space for a minute,” shared Rita Dominic at the conference.

During her time in the UK, Rita Dominic found unexpected fulfillment and purpose while working as a caregiver for adults with special needs.

Despite potential societal judgments about her career shift, she emphasized the profound joy and sense of purpose she derived from caring for others during a challenging chapter in her life.

“I’ve never told people before. While in London, I was trying to make ends meet so I started working in a care home as a caregiver for adults with special needs. While some might view it as a step-down, I don’t. Taking care of others brought me joy and purpose at a time I needed it most,” Dominic expressed with honesty and vulnerability.
