Ex Kaizer Chiefs winger who was fired by Stellies for his off field behaviour attracts European interest

Winger Kgaogelo Sekgota, who had his contract terminated prematurely by Stellenbosch FC, has reportedly attracted interest from multiple suitors despite his recent challenges.

The former Kaizer Chiefs player joined Stellenbosch at the beginning of the 2023/24 season with high expectations from coach Steve Barker, who held a positive view of Sekgota since his youth.

However, Sekgota faced difficulties upon his arrival, struggling with weight issues and off-field matters, leading to the early termination of his contract in January.

Following his departure, the 26-year-old was seen training with his former club Moroka Swallows in Johannesburg as he sought to rejuvenate his career.

While the South African Premier Soccer League remains an option for Sekgota, reports suggest that clubs from Scandinavian countries such as Norway, Sweden, and Finland have expressed interest in acquiring the winger’s services.

As a free agent, Sekgota has the freedom to choose his next destination following his departure from Stellenbosch.

Having previously had playing stints in Lithuania and Portugal, Sekgota is no stranger to international football.

Despite his talent being undisputed, concerns linger about his off-field conduct, which led to his exit from Stellenbosch due to misconduct.
