Bafana coach targets Afcon final as he aims to eliminate Nigeria

The quarter-final clash between South Africa and Cape Verde was a nail-biting affair that tested the nerves of both players and fans alike.

The match went into extra time and eventually had to be decided by a penalty shootout, which added to the already intense atmosphere.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos was visibly relieved after the victory, but also acknowledged the toll it took on him.

He humorously remarked, “Let’s say, six hours ago I was 71, now I am 75. It was a very stressful game, certainly with penalties.”

This statement highlights the immense pressure that comes with coaching at such a high level, especially in a tournament as prestigious as the Afcon.

Despite the emotional rollercoaster, South Africans had reason to celebrate as their team reached the semi-finals for the first time in over two decades.

The victory ended a long-standing Afcon hoodoo and brought a sense of joy and excitement to the nation.

The wait of more than two hours, from Saturday night to the early hours of Sunday, was worth it as Bafana Bafana emerged victorious.

In the midst of the celebrations, it seems that coach Broos needed a gentle reminder of Nigeria’s star power at the tournament.

He is now plotting a rare win.
