Kaizer Chiefs on the verge of losing out on Thabo Nodada

Thabo Nodada, the Cape Town City FC midfield maestro, could finally be on the verge of realizing his dream move abroad, leaving behind years of persistent interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

The Ixopo-born star has been a cornerstone of City’s success since the club’s inception, lifting two MTN8 cups and attracting covetous glances from South Africa’s biggest clubs.

Both Chiefs and Pirates have made attempts to lure Nodada away from the Western Cape.

In 2018, sources confirmed to The South African News that Chiefs’ team manager Bobby Motaung had approached City for Nodada, only to be swiftly rebuffed by then-coach Benni McCarthy, who considered the midfielder irreplaceable.

More recently, Pirates emerged as the frontrunners in the race for Nodada’s signature, with reports suggesting a bid was imminent.

Mamelodi Sundowns also entered the fray, fueling speculation of a potential move to the Brazilians.

However, according to Soccer-Laduma, Nodada’s future appears to lie beyond South Africa’s borders.

The publication suggests he is edging closer to securing a long-awaited move abroad, bypassing the allure of Soweto’s giants and pursuing a new challenge on the international stage.
