Flying object from township scrapyard strikes woman on the head killing her instantly
A woman was struck by a flying object from a scrapyard and died instantly in Delft, Cape Town.
The Daily Voice reports that residents are shocked and saddened by the incident, with many expressing their concerns about the safety of the scrapyard in question.
One resident, Fundiswa Gona, described the horrifying scene: “The woman was alone when this happened so we don’t know who she is and where she was going. She was hit in the head and she fell on the ground and died but it took some time for her to die, she was in a lot of pain and part of her face was severely burned. I guess the tank had a flame.”
The incident has raised questions about the safety practices at the scrapyard, with many wondering if proper precautions were not taken when handling the oxygen tank.
Gona explained that the tank slipped from the workers while they were cutting it, resulting in the tragic accident.
Calls for action have been made, with residents urging authorities to investigate the incident and ensure that safety measures are in place at all scrapyards in the area.
The closure of the scrapyard following the incident has raised suspicions, with many wondering if there were violations of safety protocols that led to the woman’s death.
