Royal AM Respond to Rumors of Not Paying Player Salaries
Royal AM have refuted claims that their players did not receive their December salaries.
The club’s general manager, Richard Makhoba, dismissed the rumours, stating that the players were paid on time.
This comes amid recent incidents in South African football where Moroka Swallows FC players went on strike due to alleged unpaid salaries.
Makhoba countered the allegations, labeling them as “malicious and untruthful.”
He emphasized that the players were paid promptly in December to fulfill their festive obligations.
The club plans to address the situation with RushSportsOn, the publication that circulated the story on social media.
Makhoba expressed his disapproval of the false information, stating,
“As a club, we view that story as defamatory and it must be dealt with the contempt that it deserves. As a club, when the time is right we will seek an opinion as to what we need to do.”
Samuel Manganyi, the skipper of Royal AM, confirmed that all players have indeed received their December salaries, dismissing accusations to the contrary.
The South African Football Players Union (Safpu) released a statement addressing the situation with Swallows players and expressed their intention to meet with relevant stakeholders to find a resolution as noted by SABC.
Current state of Royal AM
Despite the off-field controversies, Royal AM faced AmaZulu FC in their last DStv Premiership match of the year at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday.
