4 Nigerian men and 2 South Africans arrested for drug trafficking

A joint operation, led by Vala Umgodi and coordinated by Colonel Jacob Moloi and Lieutenant Colonel Tumi Seleke, targeted alleged drug dealers in Hartswater.

The operation involved various law enforcement agencies, including the Kimberley Tactical Response Team, Kimberley Public Order Police, Crime Intelligence, Pretoria Crime Scene Management, and the South African National Defence Force.

Acting on intelligence, the team raided three locations in Hartswater on 12 March 2024. Simultaneous raids were conducted on suspected drug houses situated in Verwoerd and Sandrock Streets.

Substantial quantities of illegal substances were confiscated during the operation, including Crystal Meth (commonly known as Tik), Mandrax tablets, Cat, Mantrax, and sachets of Nyayope.

Additionally, nine cellphones, three chargers, and cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales were seized.

4 Nigerian men amongst 6 arrested

Six suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal drug trade. Among them were four Nigerian males aged 29, 36, 38, and 54, one 36-year-old South African male, and a 22-year-old South African female. These suspects are scheduled to appear in the Hartswater Magistrates Court.

Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, the Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, commended the collaborative effort of all involved law enforcement personnel and external partners in Operation Vala Umgodi. Their dedication contributes significantly to the ongoing fight against crime in the province.
