Woman arrested for killing her cheating husband

Police in Dennilton, Sekhukhune District, have arrested a 33-year-old woman for allegedly shooting and killing her husband. The tragic incident took place in Elansdoom village on Monday, 27 May 2024, around 06:00, following a heated argument that escalated violently.

Preliminary information indicates that the altercation began after the suspect discovered her husband’s infidelity, which was occurring on the same rental premises.

In a fit of rage, she retrieved her husband’s licensed firearm and fired several shots at him as he tried to escape. The 32-year-old victim was shot and collapsed on the street.

Upon arrival, police and emergency medical services found the victim lying in a pool of blood and pronounced him dead at the scene. The firearm used in the shooting was recovered and confiscated for further investigation.

Initial investigations revealed that the couple, originally from KwaZulu-Natal, were both educators at different schools in the Dennilton area.

Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe emphasized the ongoing struggle against gender-based violence in the province, urging communities to seek professional help to resolve relationship issues rather than resorting to violence.

The suspect is set to appear before Moutse Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder. Police investigations are ongoing.
