Hawks arrest woman who kidnapped RAF recipient client
A 44-year-old woman who works at a law firm is set to appear in court today for allegedly kidnapping someone who had received compensation from the Road Accident Fund (RAF).
The arrest was made by the Provincial Kidnapping Task Team of the Hawks, along with assistance from the Mthatha National Intervention Unit and Mthatha Criminal Local Record Centre.
According to Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana, the victim had received a payout from the Road Accident Fund after filing a claim through the specific lawyers in Mthatha.
Woman Arrested for kidnapping
The kidnapping incident led to the arrest of the law firm clerk, and the case is scheduled to be heard at the Tsolo Magistrate’s Court.

“The suspect reportedly visited the victim’s home in Tsolo pretending to be owed cash by the victim, and the victim was not at his home during that time.
Moreover, further reports indicated that even suspect’s partner also visited the victim’s homestead pretended to be an official from RAF.
However, a few hours later the suspect’s boyfriend visited the victim’s home again driving a silver Volkswagen Polo and the victim was forced to get into the vehicle with his identity documents and his bank cards, then the victim allegedly followed the instruction and the boyfriend drove away to an unknown place, “said Mhlakuvana.
The victim revealed that he was released at a Beaufort West garage in Western Cape after the kidnapping. Before his release, he was allegedly forced to make numerous transactions and cash transfers, resulting in a financial loss of R290,000.
The suspect has been connected to the kidnapping in Tsolo and was positively identified through a thorough investigation conducted by the Hawks.
The investigating team uncovered her involvement in the kidnapping, leading to her being charged in connection with the incident.
