Football training session foul turns into murder trial

A tragic incident unfolded during a football practice session that turned deadly when one teammate allegedly murdered another following a foul.

The shocking case revolves around Kagiso Ofaletse, who stands accused of killing Kagelelo Majwana on December 8, 2014, at Leshobo ward, Mogapinyana village, Central District.

Court documents revealed that the fatal altercation occurred after Ofaletse fouled Majwana during the practice, prompting a retaliatory response from Majwana that escalated into a scuffle.

Teammates intervened to break up the confrontation, but the tension lingered.

Later that day, Ofaletse returned home and began cooking when a friend visited, sparking a discussion about the earlier incident.

This led Ofaletse and his friend to confront Majwana at his residence, where the situation quickly spiraled out of control.

According to reports, during the confrontation, Majwana allegedly attempted to attack Ofaletse with a burning log, prompting Ofaletse to defend himself by fatally stabbing Majwana with a concealed knife.

Ofaletse’s defense attorney, Kgololesego Segabo, highlighted that the visit to Majwana’s place was influenced by the friend’s presence.

Currently out on bail, Ofaletse’s trial is set to resume before Justice Gaolapelwe Ketlogetswe on May 10.
