Traffic increases at Beitbridge border as Zimbabweans head home

Traffic authorities in Limpopo have issued a warning about heavy traffic expected on the N1 freeway northbound towards Polokwane, Makhado, and Musina.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and be patient at toll-gates, particularly at Kranskop, Nyl, and Capricorn toll-gates.

Impatient drivers who use the yellow lane or drive on the wrong side of the road at these points not only cause more congestion and delays but also increase the risk of accidents.

In addition to the heavy traffic on the N1 freeway, a significant number of vehicles are expected at the Beitbridge border post in Musina, as well as at the Groblersbrug border post on the N11 to Botswana.

These border crossings are likely to experience a high volume of traffic as people travel to neighboring countries for the Christmas holiday.

Furthermore, there is expected to be a lot of movement of vehicles in towns and business districts across the province as people rush to complete their last-minute Christmas shopping.

This increased activity on the roads can lead to further congestion and delays.

To manage the flow of traffic and ensure road safety, traffic law enforcement officers have been deployed on major routes and critical points.

Their presence aims to monitor traffic and take necessary measures to keep the roads safe and flowing smoothly.

The warning from traffic authorities comes after a tragic accident on the N1 freeway earlier in the week, where two people lost their lives.
