Till death do us part – Couple found hanging from the same tree
The recent discovery of a young couple, both 18 years old, found hanging from a tree has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many puzzled and distressed.
While the circumstances surrounding the couple’s tragic demise remain unclear, speculations and rumours circulating in Ditshegwane point to a disturbing narrative.
Kgotlhang shared insights gathered from the community, indicating that the couple had been in a relationship for several years before a recent fallout occurred.
Allegedly, the woman’s decision to end the relationship and pursue a new romantic interest reportedly triggered a violent response from her boyfriend, culminating in the tragic outcome witnessed.
The councilor highlighted the profound impact of the incident on the woman’s family, underscoring the devastation and grief experienced by her loved ones.
Expressing a sense of helplessness in the face of such harrowing events, Kgotlhang lamented the apparent wave of violence engulfing the village, citing another recent incident involving attempted murder and suicide in a neighboring community.
“My village appears to be cursed, we know no peace. Lovers are butchering each other in the most heartless manner ever. I do not know what we can do as leaders but there is need for serious intervention. Just recently, a man tried hacking his lover to death in Moshaweng, a village not far from here. He chopped her up and when she fainted, he assumed she had died and went on to hang himself. The lady is still recovering in hospital,” said the councilor.
Police Spokesperson Near Bagali confirmed the investigation into the tragic incident, detailing the grim discovery made by the deceased man’s brother.
The scene of the couple’s demise, marked by fresh footprints and the haunting sight of their lifeless bodies hanging from a tree, has left the community reeling with shock and disbelief.
Bagali indicated that further investigations would shed light on the nature of the incident, determining whether it was a case of double murder or a tragic murder-suicide.
