Having been signed by the Sea Robbers in 2015, Thembinkosi Lorch quickly became a fan favorite during his time with Orlando Pirates.

Over the years, Lorch played an importane role in the Pirates’ successes, securing three MTN8 titles and the Nedbank Cup.
Despite these achievements, the 30-year-old attacker expressed his long-standing desire to play for Mamelodi Sundowns.

Speaking to the Sundowns media team, Thembinkosi Lorch shared his enthusiasm for the new chapter in his career.
“I always wanted to play for a team like Sundowns,” he declared.
The 176-appearance veteran for Pirates expressed his happiness at joining Mamelodi Sundowns as well as his eagerness to meet his new teammates.
“I am Thembinkosi Lorch, and I am proud to be yellow,” he added.
What the move means for Sundowns
Lorch’s arrival at Mamelodi Sundowns adds valuable experience to the squad, as they aim to successfully defend their PSL title in the current campaign.
Known for his all round attacking skills, the attacker can play either on the wing or just behind the striker.
His ability to move through tight defensive situations with skillful dribbling is expected to be what is needed by Rhulani Mokwena’s team.
