Student turns place of safety into a hell hole as he is caught on camera raping teenage boy

A 20-year-old LGBTQI+ pupil is set to apply for bail today at the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court following allegations of sexually violating a 17-year-old boy.

The incident reportedly took place at the Lerato Place of Safety, where the pupil was being accommodated and transported to school by the Department of Social Development.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-colonel Sergio Kock confirmed that the Galeshewe SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences unit are investigating the rape that occurred on March 2 at the place of safety.

Kock stated, “It is alleged that a 20-year-old suspect raped another 17-year-old boy at the place of safety. The suspect was subsequently arrested and is currently in custody at a correctional facility.”

The suspect is expected to apply for bail on March 15, with investigations ongoing.

Shaine Griqua, the director of the Shaine Griqua Advice and Development Centre, raised concerns about the situation, questioning why an adult suspect was placed in a facility meant for minor children.

Griqua highlighted the vulnerability of LGBTQI+ individuals due to the lack of appropriate facilities and shelters.

“A victim of a sexual offense has been charged with abusing other children,” Griqua expressed, emphasizing the need for stricter protocols and safeguards in such environments.

The case underscores the importance of ensuring the safety and protection of all individuals, especially those who are marginalized within society.
