Six alleged sex workers found dead
People often say South Africa is a crime scene, this is largely due to the high crime rates and just when you think you have heard it all, another bizarre crime story makes it to the news. This is the case when the country woke up to a shocking crime story this morning. Six decomposing bodies were found on a business premises.
A 21-year-old male was arrested by the Johannesburg Police for murder. Six bodies were found on Sunday, 9 October 2022, inside a panel beating building in the city’s central business district (CBD).
The police were called to the building due to a persistent unpleasant smell coming from one of the rooms. At that time, a woman’s body was discovered. The suspect is said to be the last person seen with the deceased woman.
According to reports, the suspect was spotted with the deceased woman on 2 October 2022, around 20:00.She was never seen again until her body was discovered on Sunday morning. The clothes she was wearing matches the description of one of the missing persons reported recently.
Five more victims were found outside the building, where there is a makeshift workshop and rubbish dumpsters. The police returned to the scene after questioning the suspect and more bodies were found.
Unfortunately, the decomposition stages of the other five bodies are advanced. They’ll go through forensic analysis to be identified.
The Provincial Murder and Robbery section are investigating while the suspect is expected to face six murder charges.
Residents opinion about the six bodies
Residents who live next to the building said they did not suspect any foul play despite picking up a foul smell.
Alex Dube is a caretaker at a building next door said. He said he started picking up a bad smell last week.
The six bodies discovered in the building are believed to be of sex workers.
