Ace Magashule and Jacob Zuma join forces in biggest 2024 elections coup

Former ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule has announced that his party, the African Congress for Transformation (ACT), will be joining forces with Jacob Zuma backed uMkhonto weSizwe and other like-minded parties for the 2024 general elections.

Magashule made the announcement during ACT’s three-day awareness campaign in KwaZulu-Natal.

Magashule expressed his excitement to work with uMkhonto weSizwe and bring back the dignity of the black person and South Africans.

He emphasized ACT’s commitment to working towards the betterment of South Africa, stating, “We want to make sure that we work and we prioritize blacks in general and Africans in particular. We don’t talk, we act.”

Magashule also clarified that ACT will be contesting the elections independently and will not be merging with other parties.

He highlighted that ACT is a distinct party and has already registered with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

Addressing the nationwide campaign, Magashule stated that ACT is present and active in various provinces, including Gauteng, the Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal. He emphasized the party’s goal of increasing visibility and engaging with the public.

Regarding the establishment of uMkhonto weSizwe, Magashule expressed that it did not come as a surprise to him, as he had been aware of its possible formation.

He defended former ANC members, including Jacob Zuma, Julius Malema, and Bantu Holomisa, who had gone on to establish their own political parties, stating that they have the right to association.

The collaboration between ACT and uMkhonto weSizwe, along with other progressive parties, indicates a shift in the political landscape in South Africa.

As the 2024 general elections approach, it will be interesting to see how these alliances and the emergence of new parties will impact the country’s political dynamics.
