The Al-Nassr forward, who played a pivotal role in Senegal’s triumph in the previous edition in Cameroon, believes the Teranga Lions have what it takes to secure a second consecutive victory.

Sadio Mane, the former Liverpool star and current Al-Nassr sensation, exudes confidence as Senegal gears up for AFCON 2023.

Mane has not only called on his teammates to approach the tournament with the intention of defending their title but also emphasized that they should do so without any fear.

We respect all the teams, but we do not fear any of them. Playing for Senegal and fearing a team during this [competition] is a lack of respect for the national flag. We are leaving to defend our trophy with all the fighting spirit that could require,”

Mane declared, as quoted by Sene News.

This assertion highlights the determination and pride with which the Senegalese team is approaching the upcoming competition.

The Teranga Lions, having triumphed in Cameroon, enter AFCON 2023 as one of the favorites to clinch the continental title once again.

Senegal is slated to commence its title defense on January 14, opening their campaign against neighbors, the Gambia.

Subsequent group-stage clashes will see them face off against five-time champions, Cameroon, and Guinea in Group C, setting the stage for intense and competitive matchups.
