RIP| “I’m not ok” says heartbroken Pearl Thusi

Pearl Thusi, a renowned media personality is in mourning. The Dj took to Instagram to share that she lost her cousin, Bongani Mthethwa, on 26 February 2024. “Still haven’t found the words” she said. In the second post she shared a short video of Mthethwa during happier times.

In 2020 Pearl Thusi lost her father, Bhekisizwe, while her mother passed away in 2004. Both her parents died of HIV-related illnesses.

In a candid interview on the L-Tido Podcast on YouTube, Thusi opened up about her family’s journey with HIV.

Despite the challenges they faced, she revealed that her father remarkably lived for almost two decades after her mother’s passing.

During this time, he battled meningitis on multiple occasions, a testament to his resilience and strength in the face of adversity.

This shed light on the personal struggles that Thusi and her family endured, highlighting the importance of awareness and destigmatization surrounding HIV/AIDS.
