Preservation Order takes R529 000 from 2 illegal Pakistanis

Kashif Ali (47) and Sabir Syed Shah (63), both Pakistani nationals and undocumented immigrants, received a Preservation Order valued at R529,000 from the North West Division of the High Court, Mahikeng on April 7, 2024.

The order stems from a targeted operation conducted in February 2023 by Rustenburg K9, acting on intelligence regarding stolen copper cable allegedly located in a specific flat on Zendeling Street, Rustenburg.

During the operation, sixteen (16) bags of copper cable and four loose stripped copper cables were discovered upon searching the premises.

Additionally, R210,000.00 was found inside the boot of a BMW found at the scene. The copper cable, cash, and BMW were confiscated, and both individuals were arrested on charges of unlawful possession of suspected stolen goods and violating the Immigration Act.

The case was subsequently investigated by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation and Priority Crime Specialised Investigation, resulting in the granting of the Preservation Order on the motor vehicle and the cash
