Pirates dodge Arrows: Exciting win streak continues

Orlando Pirates secured a 2-1 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday. This win extends their winning streak in the PSL to three consecutive wins.

The Buccaneers took control of the game from the start and were rewarded after 30 minutes when Karim Kimbouidi was fouled inside the penalty area.

Patrick Maswanganyi stepped up and scored the opening goal from the penalty spot.

Arrows then gained momentum and put pressure on the visitors, eventually leveling the score just before half-time when Nduduzo Sibiya’s clever penalty found the back of the net.

In the second half, Kivuidi regained the lead for Bucs, scoring his first PSL goal in the 56th minute, ultimately securing Pirates’ third consecutive Premier Soccer League win.

With this win, the Bucs moved into third place in the league standings.
They are eight points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who still have three games in hand.

In the scorching, humid weather of KwaZulu-Natal, the Buccaneers adapted well to the weather and put on an impressive performance for the many fans who had gathered to cheer them on.

Kimvuidi walked away with the Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance for the Buccaneers on the day, where his goal led to the team’s three vital points. He earned an 86.2 rating in the Top Players & Ratings section.

Arrows created many chances but could not convert them.
Tebogo Tlolane in particular seemed unwilling to make the most of the chances he created, which ultimately worked against his team’s interests.

Arrows will play against TS Galaxy on Saturday, December 23rd and against Moroka Swallows on Saturday, December 30th.

Orlando Pirates face SuperSport United on Saturday 23rd December and Stellenbosch on Friday 29th December.
